Many Amish and Mennonite-owned businesses in Lancaster County close on Sundays, but plenty of attractions, restaurants, and shops stay open. Here’s what to do on a Sunday in Lancaster PA, plus how to plan around the closures.
Strasburg Rail Road runs 45-minute steam train rides on Sundays. Amish Village offers house, school, and village tours, and its Backroads Bus Tour is a 90-minute drive through the countryside. Amish Farm and House also runs Sunday tours.
Turkey Hill Experience in Columbia gives out free ice cream and iced tea samples, and Wilbur Chocolate’s Lititz shop is open Sundays. For a meal, Miller’s Restaurant & Smorgasbord and Casey Jones’ Restaurant at Paradise Station welcome Sunday diners.
Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre offers Sunday matinees. Dutch Wonderland, Choo Choo Barn, and the North Museum are open for families, and Laserdome, escape rooms, and Refreshing Mountain also take Sunday visitors.
Kindred Collections in Columbia has more than 100 local artists and vintage vendors, and parking is metered Monday through Saturday only.
Planning tip. Check the closed-on-Sundays list before you head out, since many Lancaster County shops and attractions are closed. For other days, see open Saturdays, open weekends, and open after 5 pm.
