Come See Wolves in Their Natural Habitat
In northern Lancaster County, surrounded by 80 acres of natural woodland, lies Wolf Sanctuary of PA, home to the Wolves of Speedwell. Originally created 40 years ago as a rescue for displaced gray wolves and wolf-dogs, the sanctuary continues to provide the highest level of care and enrichment for over 50 rescues. Wolf Sanctuary of PA has also grown into an educational facility offering guided tours by reservation to educate the public about gray wolf conservation and biology.
Guided Tours of Wolf Sanctuary of PA
The only way to see the wolves is by reserving a guided tour. These educational tours allow guests of all ages to view the wolves in their natural environment and learn about their history and current conservation efforts. Guides will lead guests from pack to pack introducing the wolves and providing information about their history and habitat. They welcome your questions. The tour is outdoors through natural terrain, so wear good walking shoes and dress for the weather. Pets are not permitted on the property.
Public and Private Guided Tours are only offered at certain times, so be sure to check the tour schedule before planning your visit.
If you or a member of your group have special needs, please contact the sanctuary office prior to your visit.
Group Tours
Wolf Sanctuary of PA is a fascinating experience for group tours, including school and youth groups. Visitors experience wolves in their natural habitat and learn about the important role of gray wolves in the ecosystem. Discounted rates are available for daytime public guided tours depending upon the size of your group. Check the website for group tour information and size limits.
Full Moon Tours
Full Moon Tours are held once each month on a Saturday evening closest to the full moon. For the Full Moon Tour, all visitors must be at least 16 years old and have proof of age with them. Guides lead groups on a moonlit stroll from pack to pack and talk about the wolves and dispel some of the myths that have plagued gray wolves for centuries. Tours conclude near the roaring bonfire. Bring along a blanket or chair, and a flashlight.
