Come Experience Life on an Amish Farm

Old Windmill - Lancaster. PAA wonderful hands-on Lancaster County experience awaits you as you visit and tour this working dairy farm operated by an Amish family.

On this tour you’ll make new friends with the farm residents. Look at all the new  experiences you’ll have:

  • Milk a cow
  • Bottle feed baby calves
  • Feed little pot-bellied pigs and watch them perform as they slide down the slide
  • Help gather eggs and feed the chickens
  • Feed the pygmy goats and the miniature bull
  • Hold the miniature hens
  • Meet the mules
  • Learn about their working windmill

Then tour the cow barn and learn how cows are milked and how their milk is refrigerated on the farm.

You’ll also get to walk through the old barn that dates back to the late 1700’s.

All ages will enjoy this wonderful farm experience.

Tour Their Large Gardens

Next, your tour will take you through their gardens where you will find a wide variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables, including:

  • Concord grapes
  • Raspberries
  • Strawberries
  • Watermelons
  • Potatoes
  • Green beans
  • Zucchinis
  • Broccoli
    • Kale
    • Cabbage
    • Carrots
    • Red beets
    • Sunflowers
    • A variety of herbs
    • And a flower garden

 

You may even be able to help harvest and taste some fresh produce in season.

Learn about Amish Life from the Amish Themselves

While taking this fascinating farm tour you’ll learn about farm life from an Amishman and his family. Jesse will be happy to share experiences and answer questions about their Amish lifestyle, culture, and heritage.

Groups are Welcome

Old Windmill - Lancaster. PAThis is a unique experience for groups. And you can talk to Jesse and Anna about holding group events in their barn or in the tobacco shed.

And you call ahead to inquire about making reservations for a sunset hayride after hours. (Reservations are required.)

Stop in and say Hello to the miniature horses at our Old Order Amish farm just outside Strasburg. They are gentle, friendly, and waiting to be petted. Saddle rides and cart rides are available.
