Lil’ Country Store and Miniature Horse Farm

Saddle Rides at Lil' Country Store

Welcome to Our Miniature Horse Farm!

Stop in and say ‘Hello’ to the miniature horses at the Amish farm of Henry & Linda Stoltzfus, situated just outside of Strasburg. Our miniature horses are gentle, friendly, and waiting to be petted.

Miniature Horses

Come pet our miniature horsesOur barn offers 10 stalls of miniature horses waiting to greet you. Henry has crafted the stalls so that each has a large hole cut in the door. It’s quite a sight to turn the corner and see all these little heads peeking out at you! The design of the stalls offers ample opportunity to pet the horses and have your picture taken with them.

We also offer saddle rides and cart rides with our miniatures. Small children will love this opportunity to ride or ride behind one of our miniature horses. While in the barn, you can also view Henry and Linda’s team of driving horses, as well as their buggy.

This is a unique experience for every member of your family. There is no admission fee to tour the horse barn. There is a small charge for the rides.

We are open Monday through Saturday, 9 am – 5 pm (closed Sundays).

Miniature Horse Workshop

Lil Country Store - one of our miniature horsesFor a hands-on experience, where you truly interact with our horses, we offer one hour scheduled sessions on our family farm. It’s fun for the entire family and includes:

  • Grooming – Did you know braiding a mane is fun?
  • Feeding – Horses always appreciate meal times!
  • Cart rides – Their gentle manners will soothe any anxious moments you might have.
  • Saddle rides – Weight restrictions apply.

Learn new things with our program. You’ll get the chance to help harness and hitch the horse to the cart. Come join us for a new experience! Workshop hours are from 12:00 to 1:00 and 4:00 to 5:00 Monday through Saturday by appointment only.

  2. Joanne Hess Siegrist says:

As a local tour guide this is a favorite stop for many of my tours…
and I hope to go there tomorrow with a full coach group!
Many fine features with warm hospitality!

  3. Linda Marshall says:

I read as many Amish stories as I can. I had no idea Bird-in Hand was a real place. I would love to take a real buggy ride and visit the many shops there and visit a real farm & see the miniature horses. I love horses. I grew up on a farm (not Amish) but I am fascinated with anything Amish. I hope to visit there some day soon.

  4. Sandy Schwarm says:

I hope to bring the grandkids this summer.

  5. Carol Clark says:

This was the highlight of our trip. My children enjoyed the gentle minis, and the relaxed, tranquil farm. The store was delightful, and I found several excellent bargains on handmade products I needed in my home, and for gifts. This is a wonderful place for Christians to visit with their children, as everything was wholesome, and there is a reverence for the Lord amongst the owners and shop ladies.

  6. wendy doerfler says:

my daughter, grandchildren and I visited last week – it was the highlight of our trip! they spent an hour petting the mini’s,then took rides with them. The goodies are amazing,as was the homemade rootbeer, lemonade and cheddar cheese. The young Amish woman who ran the store was very sweet w/ my 6 yr old grandson as well. A ‘must’ stop on anyone’s trip :)

  7. I am looking to visit your farm tomorrow! I know the weather will be snowy/icy. Are the horses inside? Can we still come and visit?

  8. Rita Rhoads says:

What is the weight restriction to ride the miniature horses ?

  9. dorothy pollock says:

we can’t wait to come and visit – Do you sell clothes for the American girl doll? what about shoes?
