Family Cupboard Restaurant is Closing

Family Cupboard Restaurant

We regret to inform loyal diners that the Family Cupboard Restaurant and Buffet along Route 340 between Bird-in-Hand and Intercourse, PA is closing. This restaurant, and The Amish Barn Restaurant before it, has long been a dining favorite of visitors to the Pennsylvania Dutch Country.  (This restaurant is different from the Lititz Family Cupboard Restaurant & Buffet in Lititz.)

Here is part of the announcement from the restaurant management:

Greetings!

We have come to a decision to close February 2nd. There have been several incidents beyond our control that have brought us to this point…

Thanks to all of you who have supported us with your business and with encouraging words through the years. I don’t know everything God had in mind when we established The Family Cupboard, but I see what I have learned in the journey as being valuable and it is now part of my life experience. This chapter is written, but the book is not yet finished. It is still our hope that someone will continue The Family Cupboard or do their own concept at this location…

After we close I would love to see you at Dienners Restaurant. When you come to Dienner’s, ask for me and I will do my best to visit you at your table. May God bless us all as we live our lives for the good of others. Jesus said, “love the Lord your God with all that you are and love others as well as you love yourself”.

Sincerely,

John Dienner

The Family Cupboard, Inc.

Well, I guess we didn’t get the memo, we drove out to Lancaster from the Philly area today with the express intent to dine at the Family CupBoard as we have many times in previous years. In a blind pick of restaurants on my GPS I saw Dienner’s and caught a sign for it as well, there was a considerable wait as we signed in at 5:59 before the 6pm cutoff, we were happy to find the same feel, placemats, and food that was at the Family Cupboard. It wasn’t till we got home and I researched it that I found the relationship between the resturaunts. Looks like we have a new destination, so sorry to see the other store close. Best of continued success at Dienner’s.

Visited Lancaster this past weekend and was so sorry to find our favorite breakfast place closed. It’s now a Coleman’s camping store. So out of place on that road. Almost every other place was way too crowded with tourists and/or not in a beautiful scenic area. We tend to avoid the more obvious tourist traps and will look for another place off the beaten track in the future.

We are coming into town soon, sorry you will be already closed. We often
ate there when we traveled to the local area.
All the best to you~ Gods Speed
