Millersville University’s Office of Visual and Performing Arts builds upon a long history of supporting the arts and producing a vast array of unique, educational and exciting events and performances that touch many genres of artistic endeavors. Within our two centers, The Ware Center in downtown Lancaster and the Winter Center on the campus of Millersville University, our office engages both the students and community of Lancaster, and brings to its stages creative local artists as well as renowned artists and performers from around the world. Committed to the ongoing expression of excellence in the arts, we pride ourselves as “Lancaster County’s Home for the Cultural Arts” and strive to ensure that the arts in Lancaster County continue to flourish with our 2018-2019 season. The upcoming season includes our Performing Arts series featuring music from all genres, theatre and dance, as well as our Family Fun Fest series and our culturally diverse We The People First Friday events. Club 42 showcases exciting jazz and cabaret acts in a club setting while our On Screen/In Person film series brings compelling documentaries and filmmakers to the community for engaging conversations regarding relevant topics.
Club 42
Club 42 opens on September 14 with award-winning vocalist Gabrielle Stravelli as she spins her soulful and unique take on the music of Willie Nelson in “Pick Up My Pieces.” With a cash bar and options to purchase small plates, this event makes for the perfect date night.
Performing Arts Series
On September 20, New York’s jazz revivalists The Hot Sardines return to the Ware Center to kick off our Performing Arts series. This jazz collective will transport listeners to a different era with their brassy horn arrangements and rollicking piano melodies.
Family Fun Fest Series
We even have something to offer for the whole family this month. On September 23 our Family Fun Fest series brings children’s show curator Dan Zanes to the Winter Center for a performance of “Dan Zanes and Claudia Eliaza: Night Train 57,” a sensory friendly folk-opera.
This and more can be found on our stages at the Ware Center, 42 N. Prince St. and the Winter Center, 60 W. Cottage Ave. on the Millersville University Campus.
