Festivals, fairs, and fun!
Summer is the best time to soak up the sun, kick back and relax, and indulge in delicious food truck fare. During the Summer, Lancaster County has something going on every weekend and almost every event you can count on there being numerous food trucks!
We asked and you voted. We conducted this contest on Facebook from March 28th to April 14th and during that time 17 food trucks were nominated and over 200 fans voted. Based on your votes, here is Lancaster’s top 5 favorite food trucks in the county.
5th Place
Type: Dessert, American (Traditional)
It doesn’t get more traditional than this all-American food truck. SCOOPS Ice Cream & Grille gives the people what they want: cool and creamy hand-dipped ice cream and delicious all-American fare.
SCOOPS has over 24 hand-dipped ice cream flavors and a full food menu, including their well-known SCOOPS Cheesesteaks and Award-Winning BBQ.
You may see SCOOPS Ice Cream & Grill in two places at once. Or maybe even three! They now have three food trucks: one specializing in all your ice cream needs and the other two in food and ice cream. You can catch them around the county at different events, carnivals, and fairs.
4th Place
Food Type: Burgers
Everyone loves some good food truck fare, and Lancaster Burger Co. has perfected the recipe for the best food truck burger. Better yet, the burgers are prepared from the finest beef, dairy products, and other ingredients in the county.
There are all different kinds of burgers crafted to create the mouthwatering menu. You can go for The Original or try the owner’s personal favorite Black & Blue, and at the end you can wash it down with a smooth and creamy shake.
Curb your craving and stop by the Lancaster Burger Co. food truck throughout the year in the city or throughout Lancaster County.
3rd Place
Food Type: Greek, Mediterranean
Everyone knows the Souvlaki Boys have got the best Greek food around. They have a passion for food and hospitality which is exemplified in their delicious foods and customer care.
Their menu consists of traditional Greek dishes, including gyros, souvlaki, baklava, and more. The food is prepared fresh and from scratch. All in all, it’s a great way to experience an excellent and authentic Greek meal.
The Souvlaki Boys food truck was established in Lancaster, PA in Summer 2012 by two cousins. The boys brought this delicious Greek food to the streets of America and can be found on the streets of Lancaster City throughout the year.
2nd Place
Food Type: Mexican, Tacos
Get your fix with 717 Tacos’ delicious gourmet tacos and house-made tortilla chips. Part of their mission is to support the local community so their tacos are made with high-quality ingredients sourced from local farmers and businesses.
They have a variety of tacos, ranging from a traditional, authentic taco to sweet and savory tacos created with a blend of flavors from all over the world.
717 Tacos’ truck started in Mechanicsburg, PA but it now serves all of Central PA. Don’t miss their different special events happening around Lancaster County.
1st Place
Food Type: Belgian, Waffles
Dough Head Stuffed Waffles are the pros when it comes to turning a regular waffle into a unique and delicious treat. They specialize in Liege-style waffles, stuffed with your choice of savory or sweet.
All their waffles are made from scratch with the freshest ingredients. Choose from a PA Dutch chicken and gravy waffle to a cinnamon sugar dusted waffle stuffed with vanilla maple cream cheese.
The truck is based out of East Petersburg, PA, but can be found throughout Lancaster County and often times on the streets of Lancaster City for numerous events.
