About The Ware Center
Millersville University is proud to run two-state-of-the-arts centers in Lancaster County. Winter Visual & Performing Arts on campus in Millersville, PA and The Ware Center (featured in the photo above,) located in downtown Lancaster City. Boasting three performing arts spaces, Owen Grand Salon, the Atrium and the Steinman Concert Hall, our venue hosts a variety of diverse cultural and artistic experiences and events, including live theater, classical, jazz, and contemporary music concerts, dance performances, lectures, films, and art exhibitions.
Serving over ten years as Lancaster County’s Home for the Cultural Arts, the Ware Center – Millersville University is honored to be the hub of cultural activity in our community. Whether through our free monthly We The People First Fridays and engaging On Screen/In Person film and filmmaker series; our Performing Arts Series featuring family entertainment, music concerts and plays; or the Club 42 jazz and cabaret series, Ware Center opens a gateway to the arts between the community and the world.
The Ware Center – Millersville University is conveniently located on Prince Street in Lancaster. We’re a block from Penn Square and Central Market, and steps from the famed Gallery Row. Parking for the Ware Center is across Prince Street in a surface parking lot or in the city’s Prince Street parking garage. Learn more here.
Our Facility
The Ware Center – Millersville University is one of the last buildings designed by world-renowned architect Philip Johnson, and the Steinman Concert Hall (pictured above,) features state-of-the-art sound designed by acoustical engineering legend Cyril M. Harris. Originally built for the Pennsylvania Academy of Music, the facility was acquired by Millersville University in 2010 and houses the Office of Visual & Performing Arts.
