Welcome to America’s First Commercial Pretzel Bakery.
It was here in Lititz in 1861 that Julius Sturgis opened the first commercial pretzel bakery in America. Now, all these years later, the bakery is still operated by the Sturgis family using the same old-fashioned recipe and methods originally established by Julius Sturgis.
Twist Your Own Pretzel
Today, visitors can take a bakery tour, where they’ll get to twist their own pretzel, learn about the history of pretzel baking, see the original brick ovens built in 1861, and watch old-fashioned soft pretzels being made on site.
Tours are offered every day, beginning as the store opens. The last tour of the day begins a half-hour before closing time. Admission: $5.50 adults, $6.00 Seniors (65+) and Military, and $5.00 children ages 4-12.
You can purchase our fresh baked soft pretzels, a variety of hard pretzels, chocolate covered pretzels and souvenirs in our shop.
