Ruthie’s Apparel started as a small t-shirt shop in Bird-in-Hand more than twenty years ago. Two decades later it’s two boutiques — Bird-in-Hand and Ronks — and a reputation as one of Lancaster County’s favorite places to find something that isn’t in every mall in America.
Ruthie still chooses the inventory herself. Over 75 brand brands, refreshed constantly, with a real emphasis on pieces that flatter actual bodies rather than runway proportions. Several of the lines are made in the USA and Canada.
Tops, bottoms, dresses, and outerwear make up the core, with handbags, jewelry, and shoes to finish a look. The jewelry selection gets singled out in customer reviews as often as the clothing does — it’s chosen to work with the pieces on the racks, not sold as an afterthought.
