Lancaster County’s Home for the Cultural Arts
That’s a big statement to make, and an even bigger one to live up to. So what does this mean to us at The Ware Center – Millersville University and how do we fulfill this name? Millersville University and the Office of Visual and Performing Arts is committed to supporting the arts, and providing a vast and diverse opportunity for visitors and the community-at-large to patronize our events as well as contribute and participate in them. With two state of the art facilities, The Ware Center in downtown Lancaster and the Winter Center on the university campus, we have the unique opportunity to bring together both the MU students and the community to enjoy and celebrate the arts. We strive to bring exciting, innovative, and thought-provoking artists from around the world to our multiple venues. Our 2018-2019 season is an example of those efforts.
Our venue spaces include the amazing 650 seat Clair Performance Hall in the Winter Center, and the Ware Center boasts the 350 seat Steinman Hall, as well as the glass pyramid ceiling Atrium. Our seasons include the Performing Arts Series, offering a variety of music, theatre, and dance productions. On Screen/In Person is a film series featuring new works accompanied by the independent filmmakers who made them. The Family Fun Series offers a variety of presentations appropriate for the whole family and activities for kids. Finally, through our Club 42, Series music lovers enjoy jazz, cabaret and various touring acts with intimate table-seating, small plates, and a cash bar.
