Experience life on a 7 generation, 200 hundred-year-old farm located in the heart of Lancaster County. This farm was originally granted by William Penn before the Independence of our nation. German and Scottish immigrants built our 1760s barn by hand from the stone milled here in Lancaster County. An unknown arsonist burned the barn in 2005 and we rebuilt it with an authentic Amish barn raising. The original homestead was a spring house located in our meadow but was later replaced with our current brick farmhouse in 1814 by our great, great, great Grandfather Jacob Franz. His daughter married Sem Eby and started farming the land which we still own and operate. We milked 52 cows, raised all our young stock and farmed 80 acres for 17 years until the dairy market failed us – as it has done 100s of other farmers – and we sold our prized herd to our Amish neighbor. We continue to farm the land, raise red Angus beef cattle, and enjoy our goats, chickens, beagle dogs, and horse.
