Taste of the River Towns

April 3 - April 3, 2016

The 2016 restaurant fair, will be held at St John’s Herr Estate (200 Luther Lane, Columbia), and will provide an opportunity for guests to sample the wares of local restaurants and food vendors.  A balanced menu of offerings and a great variety of tastings will be featured. The 2015 vendors and their culinary offerings are listed below. This ticketed event features open seating from 4:00 to 6:30 pm. Tickets are $15 per person and will be available through the Visitors Center (445 Linden Street, Columbia) or by calling 717-684-5249.

2015 participants included:

  • Bully’s Restaurant and Pub – Bully’s event treat was Roasted Fennel & Peppadew Tapenade on Cucumber and Polenta Cake.  Their tasty Crab Soup was also on hand.
  • Café Garth – A choice of Café Garth’s House Blend in Regular or Decaf was available.  French Cream, a Café Garth signature feature, was offered to add a creamy, sweet finish to the coffee.
  • Columbia Historic Market House – A cross-section of market vendors presented their wares which may be found at the Columbia Historic Market House during their operating hours.  Offerings included tastes of steak sandwiches, meatball subs, homemade granola, cupcakes, butterscotch bars, and more!
  • Columbia Kettle Works – Columbia Kettle Works presented tastes of two of their brews: Dunderhead and Rye Pale Ale.
  • Hinkle’s Pharmacy Restaurant – Roasted Corn & Crab Chowder, Cranberry Orange Muffins, Chicken Croquettes, Chunky Chicken Salad, and Assorted Sandwiches provided guests with a range of flavors available at Hinkle’s Restaurant.
  • John Wright Restaurant – Samples of Short Rib on Smoked Gouda Grits were enjoyed at the John Wright Restaurant display.
  • Keagy’s Produce – Fresh fruit and veggie platters were on hand for the event.
  • McCleary’s Public House – Chicken Pesto Pasta and Tomato Bisque represented the menu selections from McCleary’s.
  • Nissley Winery – Tastes of Nissley wines included Chambourcin, Grapeful Red, Candlelight, Rhapsody in Blue, and Masquerade.
  • Railroad House Inn – Open for just a short time before the 2015 Taste of River Towns, Railroad House Inn participated with Smoked Turnip Soup and Polenta with Braised Beef Ragout.
  • Shank’s Tavern – Mini Crab Cakes and Sausage & Horseradish Soup were enjoyed at the Shank’s Tavern stand.
  • St. John’s Herr Estate – Guests ended their meals with Bananas Foster, an annual event favorite, prepared by Chef Jason Gardner of St. John’s Herr Estate.
