Fall Doo Wop Cavalcade at American Music Theatre

The structure of Doo Wop music, popular in the 1950s and ‘60s, generally featured a tenor lead vocalist singing the melody of a song with a trio or quartet singing background harmony. The term “Doo Wop” is derived from the sounds made by the group as they provided that harmonic background. Although it’s been quite a while since smooth Doo Wop harmonies have echoed from subways and street corners, AMT’s latest line-up of groups are sure to be remembered by Doo Wop fans. Scheduled to appear in our Fall Doo Wop Cavalcade are The Brooklyn Bridge, The Duprees, Jay Siegel’s Tokens, Vito Picone and the Elegants and Emil Stucchio and the Classics. Line-up subject to change without notice.
