In a Lancaster County summer, with the sweltering heat, blazing sun, and unbearable humidity, what will give life meaning? ICE CREAM!  Luckily, you can find some of the best ice cream around, right here in Lancaster County.

We asked and you voted. We conducted this contest on our Facebook page from September 18-29, 2018, and during that time, 30 places to get ice cream were nominated and over 270 fans voted.

Based on your votes, here is Lancaster’s top 5 best places to get ice cream!

 

5.  Maplehofe Dairy

Maplehofe Dairy of Quarryville proudly serves Leiby’s Ice Cream in their popular ice cream shop.  Stop by and try over 40 different flavors of their hand-dipped ice cream, and be sure to ask for one of their homemade waffle cones.  Their award-winning milkshakes can’t be passed up, either!

 

 

 

 

4.  Strasburg Creamery

A pillar of the Strasburg community since 1985, the Strasburg Creamery is an excellent ice cream destination within Lancaster County. Their homemade waffle cones provide a welcoming aroma, and with over 140 flavors rotating throughout the year, there is sure to be something to please everyone in your party. Those who are not in the mood for a dairy-based dessert will be glad to find their apple dumplings are the talk of the town.  They even have a full deli for those desiring a more substantial meal.

 

 

 

3.  Pine View Dairy

Located just ten minutes from heart of Lancaster, Pine View Dairy is a delightful choice for your next ice cream outing. Operated by the same family that has owned the Pine View farm for generations, you can rest assured they take pride in their craft.  Try some of the flavors they have on hand (over 25 different flavors) with one of their homemade waffle cones, and you are sure to be satisfied. If you have a favorite ice cream, you can even take it home in a hand-packed half-gallon container!

 

 

2.  Fox Meadows Creamery

Fox Meadows Creamery is located less than 10 minutes outside of Ephrata, PA.  A family-run business since the 1950s, the Foxes of Fox Meadow take exceptional pride in offering the best product to their customers. Using milk from their own dairy cows to create hand-crafted ice cream, Fox Meadows offers a plethora of ice cream choices.  Additionally, their lunch menu of artisanal sandwiches and soups leaves little to be desired from your next Fox Meadows visit.

 

 

 

1.  Lapp Valley Farms

Only 3 miles from New Holland, Lapp Valley Farms is a favorite destination among locals and returning customers. Using hormone-free milk from their own local Jersey cows, Lapp Valley is known for their rich, creamy ice cream and homemade waffle cones. On your next visit, be sure to take in the beautiful grounds and friendly animals that roam around. If you can’t make it to their main location, be sure to try one of their two other locations, at the Green Dragon Market on Fridays, or at Kitchen Kettle in Intercourse during the summer months.
