Rural Lancaster County in the 18th & 19th Centuries
Landis Valley Museum is a living history village and farm that preserves and interprets rural Pennsylvania German communities from 1740 -1940. Visitors can experience what village and farm life was like in Lancaster County in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Here you’ll find over 100 acres and many historic buildings that reflect and display artifacts from years gone by. You’ll get to peek inside homes to see authentic period furniture. See displays of Conestoga Wagons, buggies, farm tractors, and implements from bygone days. Visit an original schoolhouse and a general store, complete with period merchandise on its shelves.
Brothers Henry and George Landis opened the museum in 1925 and greatly expanded the collections over the years. Today, the museum is administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
The Museum Store
The Weathervane Museum Store gives museum guests the opportunity to take along a piece of history. The store carries over 2,000 items including history, farming, gardening & cook books, children’s books, Fraktur & folk art paintings, wooden cabinetry & utensils, and much more. They also have an online store.

Landis Valley Museum is open 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Saturday, and 12:00 – 5:00 pm Sunday. You can check admission rates here.

Landis Valley Museum is located just off the intersection of Landis Valley Road and Oregon Pike (Route 272) north of Lancaster and two miles north of U.S. Route 30. You’ll find driving directions here.
